Moreover, the advice of these experts has been essential to ensure the correctness of the information written in Dr. Steve Hunters’ booklets, the company brand dedicated to the spreading of science to kids through a format suited to children.
Geologist, paleontologist and company owner
After getting a degree in Geology and Paleontology, he got the diploma as expert in precious and semiprecious stones.
He participated in several scientific and commercial expeditions giving his scientific contribution in important dinosaurs’ discoveries and other fossils findings in South Dakota and Wyoming (USA) and he also collaborated with prestigious museums and universities.
He was a scientific advisor for television shows, for magazines and editorial works.
In 1988, he founded his first company, Geolinea, and provided it with a paleontological lab which soon became one of the most important labs of its kind in the world.
Dr. Piccini published several scientific articles and books and organised also many exhibitions.
Today, his scientific project centers on in Geoworld group, which sinergically performs several scientific, didactic, knowledge spreading, publishing, industrial and commercial activities.
He is the creator of Dr. Steve Hunters’ brand, a brand associated to STEM toys and to numerous booklets’ works which contain comics and are internationally published. The booklets’ works have been created for children to spread scientific notions through play and the fun of discovery. Stefano Piccini and Dr. Steve ( the main character of the comics adventures) are the same person.
Dr. Federico Pezzotta
Geologist. Mineralogy expert
Mineralogy curator of the natural History museum of Milan and Chairman of the Board of International Mineralogical Association.
He has a degree in Earth Science and has attained the doctorate in Petrology and Isotopic Geochemistry. He then participated to excavations and field researches to find gems and chrystal deposits all over the world, with a predilection for Madagascar. There, he discovered a new mineral, which is a new gem also, to which a group of american and european experts, in his honor, gave the name of pezzottaite.
Federico Pezzotta has documented the results of his field and lab research in some books and in over 200 publications on the main international scientific magazines of the sector.
He is the scientific advisor of Dr. Steve Hunters’ Mineral World, the booklets’ work for kids published by Geoworld. He has also inspired one of the main comics characters, Fred Rock.
Dr. Fabio Marco Dalla Vecchia
Geologist and paleontologist
He got a degree in Geology and then attained the doctorate in Paleontology with a dissertation on triassic pterosaurs.
He participated in excavations and research projects in several excavations zones of the world and he collaborated with prestigious universities, museums and istitutions.
He dedicated a lot of time to teaching activities and published several books and articles on specialised and international magazines.
His scientific activity focused above all on pterosaurs and reptiles of the Triassic in northern Italy. During his researches, he described new specimens and new taxonomic unities and he also tried to reconstruct the series of modifications which brought to the flight capability.
Currently, he is researcher of the Institut Català de Paleontologia a Cerdanyola del Valles (Barcelona).
He is the scientific advisor of Dr. Steve Hunters’ Jurassic and Fossil World, the booklets’ work for kids published by Geoworld. He has also inspired one of the main comics characters.
Dr. Mauro Gubiani
He got a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the university of Parma when he was just 26 and then specialised in Cardiology.
After some years, he abandoned the hospital to be a general practician: a job that he carries out with a lot of passion and that allows him to keep a direct and profound relationship with his patients.
He is often involved in healthcare programs and he strongly believes in the growing need for prophylaxis.
For more than 10 years, he has collaborated with the university and then he has also become medical coordinator of a RSA (Assistential Healthcare Residence) where the patients who checked out from hospital, but who still can’t go back home, need some other rehabilitation.
He is the scientific advisor of Dr. Steve Hunters’ Human Body World, the booklets’ work for kids published by Geoworld. He has also inspired one of the main comics characters, Dr. Bones.
Dr. Paolo Rosa
He graduated in Natural Sciences in Pavia and won the Binaghi Award of the Italian Entomology Society reserved to young entomologists. He specialised in studying turquoise wasps, also called golden wasps, and through his researches he managed to explore almost 40% of the entire planet.
He discovered and described more than seventy new species and two new genera; moreover two new species of Hymenoptera, Miscophus paolorosai and Chrysis rosai, have been named in his honor, giving his constant research activity.
He is research fellow in some of the most prestigious european, russian and chinese museums and he also works as freelance. During his activity, he has published eighty between books and scientific and didactic publications. He has also organised several entomology exhibitions in parks, museums and universities which have been visited by more than 500.000 people.
He is the scientific advisor of both Dr. Steve Hunters’ Bugs World and Butterfly World, the booklets’ works for kids published by Geoworld. He has also inspired one of the main comics characters, Paul Bugs.
